Spain has confiscated 11 ancient artifacts worth around $60 million stolen from Ukraine after the suspected thieves were caught trying to sell them in Madrid. Spain has seized 11 ancient artifacts from Ukraine worth around $60 million worth of gold jewelry from the Scythian period, dating back to the eighth and fourth centuries BC, from which three Spanish nationals and two Ukrainians, including an Orthodox priest, were arrested in Madrid. The artifacts were believed to have been smuggled out of Ukraine before May 2016. Most of the artifacts are displayed at the Allard Pierson Museum in Amsterdam.

Most of the pieces were gold jewelry dating from the Scythian period between the eighth and fourth centuries BC. Three Spanish nationals and two Ukrainians -- including an Orthodox priest -- have been detained. It is believed the artifacts were smuggled out of Ukraine sometime before May 2016.
