According to two people acquainted with the situation who declined to be named because the information isn’t public, Zara has increased truck deliveries to a small number of stores in Madrid from the customary two to four times each week. The folks claim that a preliminary test was already conducted by the fashion brand in Arteixo, Spain, in the spring.

Increased delivery frequency enables businesses like Zara to make more products available to customers, reducing the number of alleged missed sales resulting from low supply.

The majority of Inditex’s products are centralised in Spain for distribution and then sent in small packages to stores all over the world twice a week, allowing it to replace stocks faster than its competitors. While most large apparel and sportswear companies rely on distribution centres in various parts of the world to ship items to nearby markets.

Inditex uses daily orders from store managers, stock availability, and past sales data to optimise stock allocation based on the requirements of each of its 5,745 stores. According to the company’s most recent annual report, it created a new model last year that determines the ideal number of units for each initial shipment of a new product.

Depending on product type, Zara shops in Madrid are stocked from logistics platforms in the cities of Arteixo, Zaragoza and Meco. Zara accounted for about 32 per cent of Inditex stores globally, and 73 per cent of sales. There are 13 Zara stores in Madrid, including the brand’s largest.
